Three new Catholic stations recently went on the air in the Pittsburgh area! These stations cover the area on three signals… WPGR 1510am, WAOB 860AM and WAOB 106.7FM… The Diocese of Greensburg reports:
A new Catholic radio network based in Westmoreland County, We Are One Body (WAOB), held its inaugural broadcast Feb. 14, airing a Mass celebrated by Bishop Lawrence E. Brandt at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral.We Are One Body — WAOB-FM 106.7, WAOB-AM 860 and WPGR-AM 1510 — will broadcast a Sunday Mass at 11:30 a.m. each week until March 19, when a partial programming schedule of teaching and prayer, providing listeners with spiritual enrichment and faith formation, will begin, according to an announcement We Are One Body delivered this week.
WAOB broadcast Mass Feb. 21 at 11:30 a.m. from St. Christopher of the Lake Parish, Prospect. Pittsburgh Bishop David A. Zubik will be the celebrant and homilist. On Feb. 28 at 11:30 a.m., WAOB will air Mass from St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe, with Benedictine Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki as celebrant and homilist.
We Are One Body purchased the three stations from Sheridan Broadcasting of Pittsburgh last year. The stations had operated as WAMO-FM, WAMO-AM and WPGR-AM. WAOB is a private company, independent of the Diocese of Greensburg, but has the support of Bishop Brandt, who is a member of its board of directors.
